Hi there, my name's Emma and i'm working for the Gloucestershire Music Forum as the Music Development Networker for Stroud. The organisations aim is to increase the quality and profile of music in the area, and specifically to create more opportunities for young people. Hopefully this blog will keep you all up to date with what i'm doing, and give you a chance to get in touch if you want to be involved, have any suggestions, want me to promote something you're involved in or just want to say hi.

Quick Update

Got funding application in to the voluntary sector youth capital fund. A lot of work! Put in a bid for just under £10,000 for equipment for rehearsal facilities and recording. We’ll wait to see. Put in a proposal to Stroud Town Council to fund me to do a feasibility study for the project (an extra day a week for 3 months), so hopefully that will be successful and spur me on to continue to put in all the extra hours i’m doing. Met with David Drew Mp for Stroud last wednesday, who was support of the idea and has offered to introduce me to some people that might be useful to the project. Met with another group of young peoplefor a mix of Stroud secondary schools - archway, marling and Thomas Keble. A bit more of a mixed response, and i think this was due to very support parents who let them rehearse at the house and help them to organise gigs, but were interested in having somewhere where they can have a jam and meet like minded people, and recording facilities. Met Rob Evans who runs All together recording studios, really nice chap, very interested in getting involved. He is based at Painswick Inn project, teachers there 2 days a week doing music tech, and a day a week for Ruskin Mill. Going into Archway school on friday to talk to students, will let you know how i get on.
