Latest update post Cheltenham Jazz Festival

Still buzzing from the Cheltenham Jazz Festival, saw some amazing gigs, in particular the Don Byron Gospel Project, who had the most amazing singer i think i have ever seen! DK Dyson - check her out. Not sure whether to be inspired to practice day and night, or to just quit trumpet playing for good after seeing so much talent!

So what have i been doing since my last posting? Well lots more meeting people, having chats and cups of tea! I think i have found a few allies now, in particular a guy at the subrooms, and a guy from the hub collective. Graeme (hub collective) and I would really like to try and develop a rock school project, so have written to the youth workers at the local youth centres about doing possible taster sessions - we’ll see what the response is. Also met my other team members this week, what a lovely bunch we are! Seems like we all have different skills and interests, and will compliment each other well over the next 12 months. Didn’t get much time to really get to know each other so looking forward to more opportunities to do this in the future. Everyone that i meet is really positive about getting more music happening locally, and see the need for my role in Stroud, so that feels really good.

Still really keen to set up a youth music forum, so having a meeting with Steve Miles from youth council tomorrow about their possible involvement.

And there’s lots more meetings i have lined up over the next few weeks so feeling busy…
