I'm back
Sorry its been a very long time since i last gave an update. I’ve been on compassionate leave, but with the start of a new year and new decade, i’m now returning, and hoping that there will be good things to come for 2010.
I wanted everyone to know that we had some very good news at the end of last year. My bid to the Voluntary Sector Youth Capital Fund was successful and we were...

Apparently we are half way!
Thank you Andrew for letting us know we are half way through our contract - can’t quite believe it, its gone so fast and i still feel like i’ve got so much to do. Thanks to everyone who has supported and helped me so far, i’m afraid i haven’t got time to write an oscar-style speach like Andrew - aw he’s so sweet, and he’s done so well over the last 6 months.

Quick Update
Got funding application in to the voluntary sector youth capital fund. A lot of work! Put in a bid for just under £10,000 for equipment for rehearsal facilities and recording. We’ll wait to see.
Put in a proposal to Stroud Town Council to fund me to do a feasibility study for the project (an extra day a week for 3 months), so hopefully that will be successful and spur me on to continue to...

Feet haven't touched the ground
I’ve been working my little socks off the last few weeks, which is why i haven’t blogged for a while, sorry folks. But i think you’ll be pleased with what i’ve been doing.
I’m working on a new project. Its a not-for-profit music facility in the centre of stroud for young people and the wider community, co-run by young people, with rehearsal/recording facilities,...
Ops I forgot to say...
That i also finally met the new person who is running the subscription rooms, Jill Frank. She really wants to get the down stairs cafe being used more and seems quite keen to do some stuff that is young people focused, so watch this space…
Summer is over...
Had a bit of a quiet month, been trying to make the most of the summer with my son Ruben, before he started school! We are in the second week now, and all seems to be going well.
So what’s been happening since i last wrote? Well, we had a team meeting at the beginning of august which was really good. Nice to catch up and find out what everyone was doing, talk about funding and projects, and...

Latest update
It’s been an interesting few weeks, both in terms of work and personal life. I turned 30 last weekend, so i’m starting to come to terms with the fact that i’m not in my 20’s anymore! It’s a strange thing getting older, but anyway enough about that…
Made contact with Rick at the subrooms again. He’s still looking for bands to support the acts they are...

If only there were 8 days in a week
It’s been ages since my last post, and i promise its not from lack of things to report, it’s just finding the time. Plus i’ve been on holiday in Cornwall last week which was just lovely. Anyway an update on the last month…
The funding application has gone off to the Youth Intiative fund for the Rock School Project, which is scheduled for the autumn. The closing date was...

2 weeks passes by so quickly!
Time flies when you’re having fun…
Well i’ve had more meetings, been sending lots of e-mails, and drinking more tea!
I went to see Sue Bearder at The Space, they are really keen to do more youth focused stuff which is great. They plan on doing 3 gig nights in the autumn that will showcase local young bands, and i suggested they might do some workshops geared towards young...
End of month 1
Wow, time has flown, a month has gone by already. Starting to settle into the job now, have worked out what i’m meant to be doing, and feel like i’ve made some key contacts in Stroud. Still lots of people i haven’t had the chance to meet face to face yet, for instance Sue from the Space, but contact has been mad and hopefully we will soon.
Ruben (my son) and i have been...
Latest update post Cheltenham Jazz Festival
Still buzzing from the Cheltenham Jazz Festival, saw some amazing gigs, in particular the Don Byron Gospel Project, who had the most amazing singer i think i have ever seen! DK Dyson - check her out. Not sure whether to be inspired to practice day and night, or to just quit trumpet playing for good after seeing so much talent!
So what have i been doing since my last posting? Well lots more...

Just a little update… Well, it’s early days. I’ve been trying to get out there, meet people, basically just let people know that I am here, explain a bit about what Gloucestershire Music Forum is all about and what my role will be (kind of improvising that bit at the moment - thank goodness i studied jazz!) It seems that the guy who runs Riffs music shop in Stroud is setting up...

– Stevie Wonder, Sir Duke
Hello, I’m Emma, and I’m one of four people who have just been given the job of ‘music development networker’, for Gloucestershire Music Forum. I’m a bit new to this blogging thing, so bare with me, but i guess this is a way for you all to keep track of what i’m doing, get in touch, and give me a kick up the backside occasionally (or a helping hand!). I will be...
